NAME:

Liz Nolan

OCCUPATION:

General Manager of Castlecomer Discovery Park.Estd in 2007, this stunning 80 acre   woodland park comprises Ireland’s longest over water zipline, a full activity programme, design craft workshops and great café. This ‘young’ emerging  park is a real gem! www.discoverypark.ie

RIVER: (WHAT RIVER AM I MOST ASSOCIATED WITH; NORE, BARROW, SUIR?)

The lovely Nore! I live nearby and enjoy jogging across the stunning new bridge and seeing the quirky and fun giant mural by local artist Mick Minogue. Always makes me smile.

FAVOURITE QUOTE:

“It’s later than you think!”

FAVOURITE PLACE TO VISIT:

Thomastown or Woodstock, always lovely and really interesting. Tranquil setting of gardens versus the great buzz of bohemian arty Thomastown: great cafes, galleries and unusual shops – and on the Food/Craft/Walking Trails of Kilkenny

FAVOURITE THING ABOUT WHERE I COME FROM:

Range of fantastic cafes and restaurants

Calibre of brilliant festivals (Kilkenomics – informative and fun listening to European and international speakers; Kilkenny Arts Festival – amazing line-up, like a cultural holiday in our own home place; Savour Kilkenny – discovering great street food, and having great banter.

AND ANOTHER THING:

Kilkenny is simply a great place to live and work. There’s great energy and a creative buzz to the city and county. Culturally it’s simply very rich.

Winning this regional bid would put Kilkenny on a European stage benefitting tourism, jobs and the local economy. It would also promote the Ireland’s Ancient East proposition – benefiting the entire region. Lastly: we are creative regional hub with the talent and ability to deliver a brilliant and unique European Region of Culture!
