The Three Sisters 2020 team are taking to the region for three fun filled days over the next month. Our tour kicks off in Waterford this Saturday June 4th, where there will be a festive atmosphere with the Bid team and WLR FM hold a live outside broadcast.
From 1pm to 4pm, WLR FM presenter Geoff Harris will bring an action-packed show to John Roberts Square, as Three Sisters 2020 hosts a day of family fun. It’s the first of three radio events supporting the Three Sisters – made up of Kilkenny, Waterford and Wexford – as it bids for the title of European Capital of Culture 2020.
Local market traders will be dishing out free food, and there will be music from acts involved in ArtBeat, a free music event happening every Saturday in Waterford City. There will also be face-painting, and lots of goodies from the Three Sisters 2020 team.
Waterford cultural champions, Ireland Women’s Rugby captain Niamh Briggs and playwright and theatre director Jim Nolan will be attending on the day, while Spraoi director TV Honan and TG4 weather presenter Irial Ó Ceallaigh will also be interviewed on air, pledging their support.
Waterford people are being encouraged to come along to John Roberts Square between 1pm-4pm, for what promises to be a fun-filled afternoon.
The event comes with just weeks before the final decision by the European Union’s European Capital of Culture panel on who will win the 2020 title. They visit the region in July.
Kilkenny will host the Three Sisters Team on June 11th and we will be in Wexford on June 25th.
